Elle est la premi\u00e8re gare \u00e9difi\u00e9e en r\u00e9gion parisienne d\u00e8s 1837. En 1867, elle est devenue la plus importante de Paris, avec vingt-cinq millions de voyageurs par an, la gare Saint-Lazare est compl\u00e9tement remani\u00e9e avec de nouvelles extensions. Moyennant une taxe de 25c et un affranchissement pour le courrier international, vous pouviez faire partir votre pli par le premier train rapide en partance pour Cherbourg ou le Havre. Votre lettre \u00e9tait embarqu\u00e9e sur un paquebot en partance les Am\u00e9riques. En 1926, la traction \u00e9lectrique est utilis\u00e9e entre Paris et Rueil-Malmaison, puis \u00e9tendue \u00e0 Saint-Germain-en-Laye l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e suivante. Elle atteint Versailles-Rive-Droite en 1928 puis Saint-Nom-la-Bret\u00eache en 1931. Enfin, elle est \u00e9tendue de Bois-Colombes \u00e0 Argenteuil en 1936, apr\u00e8s de lourds travaux de quadruplement des voies jusqu&rsquo;au Stade avec suppression des passages \u00e0 niveau, dans le cadre des grands travaux contre le ch\u00f4mage. Les lignes de proche banlieue (groupes I \u00e0 IV) sont alors int\u00e9gralement \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es ; seules les deux lignes de Paris \u00e0 Mantes-la-Jolie, par la rive gauche de la Seine (groupe V) et la rive droite (groupe VI) restent assur\u00e9es en traction vapeur<sup id=\"cite_ref-RP_175-28_39-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-RP_175-28_39-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Le 20 septembre 1966<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1966-09-20\" data-sort-value=\"1966-09-20\"><\/time>, les voies des groupes IV, V et VI sont \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es. Les lignes de Paris Saint Lazare au Havre et de Paris Saint Lazare par Mantes station \u00e0 Conflans Sainte Honorine ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es en 1966 et 1967<sup id=\"cite_ref-RP_175-29_42-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>En septembre 1982, le tron\u00e7on de grande banlieue de Pontoise \u00e0 Gisors est \u00e0 son tour \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9, faisant dispara\u00eetre de la banlieue les locomotives diesel.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis les ann\u00e9es 1970, la gare Saint-Lazare n&rsquo;a connu aucune r\u00e9novation importante. Sa fr\u00e9quentation ne cesse de s&rsquo;accro\u00eetre, avec une hausse de 12 % depuis 2006. Elle revendique, selon la SNCF, la deuxi\u00e8me place d&rsquo;Europe derri\u00e8re la gare du Nord pour son volume de trafic passagers<sup id=\"cite_ref-RP_175-14_3-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>. Afin d&rsquo;accueillir dans de meilleures conditions les 450\u00a0000\u00a0voyageurs quotidiens, un plan d&rsquo;envergure baptis\u00e9\u00a0<i>Demain Saint-Lazare<\/i> a \u00e9t\u00e9 engag\u00e9 pour r\u00e9nover la gare de 2003 \u00e0 2012 dans le cadre du programme gares en mouvement. De 2003 \u00e0 2007, les travaux de la gare se sont concentr\u00e9s sur l&rsquo;espace du quai transversal, zone d&rsquo;attente qui donne acc\u00e8s aux 27 voies de la gare, consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme prioritaires par la SNCF, car au plus proches des voyageurs et des trains.<sup id=\"cite_ref-47\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>De 2009 \u00e0 2012, la plus importante phase des travaux est engag\u00e9e ; tr\u00e8s d\u00e9licate techniquement, elle a pour objet la modernisation du c\u0153ur de la gare avec la transformation de l&rsquo;ancienne salle des pas perdus. Fin 2009, le bunker de la seconde guerre mondiale, implant\u00e9 au premier sous-sol face aux voies 4 et 5 \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re de l&rsquo;ancienne galerie marchande a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truit. Apr\u00e8s trois ans d&rsquo;une nouvelle phase de travaux de transformation, la nouvelle gare Saint-Lazare a \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9e le 21 mars 2012.<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"2012-03-21\" data-sort-value=\"2012-03-21\"><\/time><\/p>\n<p>En\u00a0<time class=\"nowrap\" datetime=\"2017-12\" data-sort-value=\"2017-12\">d\u00e9cembre 2017<\/time>, les voies grandes lignes re\u00e7oivent des portiques de contr\u00f4le des billets pour les trains \u00e0 destination de la Normandie<sup id=\"cite_ref-65\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Durant l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2019, afin de lutter contre la fraude, 140 nouveaux portiques de contr\u00f4le des titres de transports pour acc\u00e9der aux quais des trains de banlieue, \u00e9tudi\u00e9s pour absorber un flux de 35 passagers au lieu de 21 pour les pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations, sont mis en service<sup id=\"cite_ref-66\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Les 27\u00a0voies de la gare sont affect\u00e9es de la mani\u00e8re suivante<sup id=\"cite_ref-RP_175-31_67-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 \u00e0 4 (groupe II)\u00a0: Versailles-Rive-Droite et Saint-Nom-la-Bret\u00e8che\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>5 \u00e0 8 (groupe III)\u00a0: Nanterre-Universit\u00e9, Maisons-Laffitte et Cergy-le-Haut\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>9 \u00e0 12 (groupes IV et VI)\u00a0: Ermont &#8211; Eaubonne, Cormeilles-en-Parisis\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>13 \u00e0 17 (groupe V)\u00a0: Mantes (par Poissy), \u00c9vreux, Vernon\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>18 \u00e0 27\u00a0: d\u00e9parts et arriv\u00e9es grandes lignes, les voies 26 et 27 servant aussi aux trains du groupe VI vers Mantes (par Conflans-Sainte-Honorine), Pontoise et Gisors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En 1999, la nouvelle ligne E du RER atteint les abords de la gare Saint-Lazare que les voyageurs peuvent atteindre par la voie publique ou par des couloirs de correspondance. La ligne E n&rsquo;est pas reli\u00e9e aux voies de surface mais dispose d&rsquo;une gare souterraine sp\u00e9cifique comportant quatre voies. Il faut comprendre que la s\u00e9paration du bureau de poste et du centre de tri a \u00e9t\u00e9 act\u00e9e au d\u00e9but du 20\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, auparavant ces deux services \u00e9taient r\u00e9unis au sein d\u2019un m\u00eame b\u00e2timent. Aujourd\u2019hui je ne connais pas encore la date effective de cette scission.<\/p>\n<p>A partir d\u2019ici, j\u2019applique le catalogue Lauthier. Pour faire simple, en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, le type A4 court de 1904 \u00e0 1947, le type A6 de 1948 \u00e0 1950, le type A7 de 1951 au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1960. Ces centres ont des locaux ind\u00e9pendants des bureaux des postes avec lesquels ils \u00e9taient coupl\u00e9s de prime abord.
