La gare est inaugur\u00e9e, de m\u00eame que le reste de la ligne de chemin de fer, le 22\/09\/1859<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1859-09-22\" data-sort-value=\"1859-09-22\"><\/time>, en pr\u00e9sence de l&#8217;empereur Napol\u00e9on III. Elle appartient alors \u00e0 la compagnie de chemin de fer de l&rsquo;Est. Cette gare poss\u00e8de 6 voies. Trente-deux trains par jour et par sens desservent la ligne, soit un d\u00e9part \u00e0 la demi-heure, avec un train sur deux terminus Vincennes ou Joinville, et un autre desservant toutes les gares du parcours jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 La Varenne, en cinquante minutes. En 1869, la ligne de Vincennes transporte 5 930 000 voyageurs<sup id=\"cite_ref-Robert_413_8-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/?attachment_id=20639\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20639\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20639\" src=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1120\" height=\"709\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79.jpg 1120w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79-1024x648.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79-768x486.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-79-427x270.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1120px) 100vw, 1120px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0En 1876, l&rsquo;intervalle des trains pour Vincennes est ramen\u00e9 de trente \u00e0 quinze minutes, et \u00e0 trente minutes pour Joinville. En 1886, le trajet de la Bastille \u00e0 Vincennes dure quinze minutes, et vingt-deux minutes jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 Joinville. Le trafic continue sa croissance, passant de sept millions de voyageurs en 1880 \u00e0 dix-neuf millions en 1900<sup id=\"cite_ref-Robert_415_16-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>. Il y a alors jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 110 trains mis en marche pour desservir les bords de Marne le dimanche et les jours de f\u00eates, d\u00e9parts et arriv\u00e9es confondus<sup id=\"cite_ref-Aur\u00e9lien_17-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>, dans des conditions cr\u00e9ant parfois de graves risques pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>C&rsquo;est dans ce contexte que survint un accident grave \u00e0 Saint-Mand\u00e9 le\u00a0<time class=\"nowrap\" datetime=\"1891-07-26\" data-sort-value=\"1891-07-26\">26 juillet 1891<\/time>\u00a0lorsque deux trains transportant de nombreux estivants entr\u00e8rent en collision provoquant la mort d&rsquo;une cinquantaine de personnes.<\/p>\n<p>La crise \u00e9conomique des ann\u00e9es 1930 atteint fortement la ligne de Vincennes. Les \u00ab trains de plaisir \u00bb dominicaux disparaissent et le trafic des travailleurs se r\u00e9duit fortement.<\/p>\n<p>La situation est encore aggrav\u00e9e par l&rsquo;extension de la ligne 1 du m\u00e9tro au ch\u00e2teau de Vincennes en 1934. Puis la mise en service d&rsquo;autobus, plus rapides que les tramways qu&rsquo;ils remplacent, les encombrements routiers n&rsquo;existant pas encore \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, porte le coup de gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la ligne, qui ne transporte plus que douze millions de voyageurs en 1936. La ligne est victime de sa trop grande proximit\u00e9 de Paris o\u00f9 elle est soumise \u00e0 une tr\u00e8s rude concurrence<sup id=\"cite_ref-Robert_416_18-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e8s le 18 avril 1939<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1939-04-18\" data-sort-value=\"1939-04-18\"><\/time>, le tron\u00e7on peu fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 de Verneuil l&rsquo;Etang \u00e0 Marles en Brie est ferm\u00e9 au trafic des voyageurs, et le tron\u00e7on de Boissy Saint L\u00e9gers \u00e0 Verneuil l&rsquo;Etang suit seulement trois mois plus tard, en date du 18\/07\/1939<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1939-07-18\" data-sort-value=\"1939-07-18\"><\/time>.<\/p>\n<p>La p\u00e9riode de la seconde guerre mondiale voit la r\u00e9ouverture de lignes ferm\u00e9es en 1939, mais c&rsquo;est le dernier chant du cygnes, en 1947 et 1953, elles sont ferm\u00e9es de nouveau au trafic voyageurs.<\/p>\n<p>Les projets de RER ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 relanc\u00e9s au cours des ann\u00e9es 50, sont alors d\u00e9cid\u00e9es l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrification et la transformation de la section de ligne situ\u00e9e en proche banlieue, pour l&rsquo;int\u00e9grer \u00e0 la transversale Est-Ouest, qui devient en 1977 la ligne A du RER.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20638\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20638\" style=\"width: 1181px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/?attachment_id=20638\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20638\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20638 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1181\" height=\"798\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78.jpg 1181w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78-1024x692.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ambulantconvoyeurpar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/a1-78-400x270.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1181px) 100vw, 1181px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20638\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo de 2002. RER traversant la Seine.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">D\u00e8s 1966, c&rsquo;est la SNCF qui se charge par d\u00e9l\u00e9gation des travaux consid\u00e9rables \u00e0 entreprendre sur le tron\u00e7on Vincennes \u2013 Boissy-Saint-L\u00e9ger, les tunnels de la transversale Est-Ouest \u00e0 partir de la gare de Nation \u00e9tant r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par la RATP. Cette derni\u00e8re se charge \u00e9galement de la d\u00e9molition puis reconstruction de la totalit\u00e9 des b\u00e2timents voyageurs du tron\u00e7on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>En 1969, il subsiste encore quarante-quatre trains quotidiens dans chaque sens, dont treize directs ou semi-directs.
